Hemedti Directs Forces to Change Fighting Tactics and Warns Against Fifth Columnists
Nairobi, July 27, 2026 – Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” announced that his forces will make their own decisions without needing to wait for his direct orders. This statement came after his forces suffered heavy losses in North Kordofan State, where the army and its allies succeeded in liberating several strategic areas and regaining control of the main export route linking the state to the capital, Khartoum. Following a security meeting attended by leaders of the Sudanese Founding Alliance (Ta’sis), Hemedti affirmed that from now on, the forces will move freely in the field, expressing his readiness to lead the troops in future battles. He also called on the forces to purge their ranks of elements he considered a “fifth column,” and stressed the need to change fighting tactics and prohibit filming during battles, noting that violators would be considered part of the fifth column. In a related context, Suleiman Sandal, a leader in the Founding Alliance, confirmed after the emergency meeting of the Presidential Council that the operational, security, political, living conditions and the agricultural season were reviewed during the meeting, praising the victories achieved, especially in Kordofan.
