North Kordofan government: (105) thousand displaced people in (8) camps in the state

The government of North Kordofan is facing significant humanitarian challenges amidst escalating internal conflict. The state's Humanitarian Aid Commission revealed that it is currently hosting approximately 105,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) across eight camps, with the largest being the Al-Abyad Unified Camp. The increasing number of IDPs is a direct result of the ongoing war, prompting the state government to strengthen its humanitarian response efforts in collaboration with UN agencies. The World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF are playing a key role in improving living conditions in the camps by providing food, health services, and education. Mohammed Ismail, the state's Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, emphasized the importance of preparing for the autumn season to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases. He also stressed the need for continued food assistance to ensure the sustainability of essential services in the camps. Representatives from the WFP and UNICEF commended the Commission's excellent coordination, which has enabled them to take effective steps to address the growing needs based on the data and statistics provided. On the other hand, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that the escalation of the conflict has caused new waves of displacement and increased pressure on health facilities, particularly warning about pregnant women who face significant challenges in accessing necessary care. Under these circumstances, the North Kordofan government and aid agencies are working diligently to expand humanitarian interventions, aiming to alleviate tensions and improve services provided to displaced people in the state.
