Sudan Doctors Network: Rapid Support Forces kill seven civilians near Bara
Khartoum, March 6, 2026 – Horrific events unfolded in the Um Kridim area, west of Bara city in North Kordofan State. The Sudanese Doctors Network, a civil society organization that monitors violations in conflict zones, accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out a violent attack that resulted in the deaths of seven civilians, including two women and a child. In a statement, the network indicated that the attack, which occurred yesterday, left a devastating impact on the area. Large parts of the town were burned, the market was completely looted, and even the only health center and the adjacent pharmacy were not spared. This has exacerbated the humanitarian situation and intensified the suffering, especially with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. Videos released by RSF members showed shocking scenes, including houses that had been set ablaze within the town. This tragic event occurred after the Sudanese army announced its control over Bara, the second largest city in North Kordofan State. The Sudanese Doctors Network described the attack as a deliberate crime directly targeting civilians, noting that the Um Kridim area had not witnessed any military activity, making the attack an attempt to terrorize the population and force them into displacement. The network expressed its deep dismay at the targeting of vital infrastructure, emphasizing that burning and looting health facilities constitutes a flagrant violation of the laws and principles of international humanitarian law, which stipulate the protection of such facilities during times of conflict. The network also called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate and decisive action to stop these repeated violations and provide protection for civilians and health infrastructure. It called for holding those responsible for these crimes accountable to ensure they do not escape punishment and to achieve justice for the victims. In a related context, local sources revealed that the attack on Um Kridim followed violent clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and residents of the town who rejected the presence of these forces in their area, especially after the forces withdrew from Bara following its capture by the army. Aerial photographs showed scenes of devastation and destruction, including the aftermath of fires that swept through the village, documenting the scale of the humanitarian disaster. North Kordofan State is witnessing major disturbances amid the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. Civilians remain the main victims of these bloody confrontations, which deepen the tragedy of the Sudanese and place the world before the responsibility of providing humanitarian support and urgent assistance.
