The Sudanese government has dismissed the Rapid Support Forces' truce, deeming it insincere.

Khartoum – The commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” announced on Monday a unilateral three-month humanitarian truce, including a cessation of hostilities. This announcement came a day after the head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, rejected an initiative presented by Massad Boulos, the US president’s advisor on African affairs, to resolve the Sudanese crisis. Observers believe that Hemedti is attempting to embarrass the Sudanese leadership before the international community by accusing it of inaction, while also trying to alleviate international pressure on his forces following their capture of El Fasher and accusations of widespread human rights abuses, including massacres and ethnic cleansing of thousands of civilians. Earlier, on September 12, the Quartet, comprising the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, proposed a plan aimed at establishing a three-month humanitarian truce. The plan aims to achieve a permanent ceasefire and initiate a comprehensive and transparent transition process within nine months, reflecting the aspirations of the Sudanese people for an independent civilian government. On November 6, the Rapid Support Forces announced their acceptance of the ceasefire, while the Sudanese government responded to Paul's initiative with its own vision, which it had submitted to the United Nations last February.
