The United Nations is calling for additional resources to meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Sudan.

The United Nations stressed the urgent need to provide assistance to hundreds of thousands of displaced people who fled El Fasher after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the city, calling for additional resources to support them and address their needs. The UN stated that more than 650,000 displaced people have sought refuge in Tawila after leaving El Fasher and surrounding areas, and they require immediate and urgent assistance to meet their humanitarian needs. In a related context, the UN emphasized the necessity of providing more resources to enable frontline workers to deliver aid quickly and effectively to those affected within Sudan. The humanitarian situation in the country is deteriorating as the war between the army and the RSF continues, a conflict that began in April 2023 and has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced nearly 13 million people, leading to a growing humanitarian crisis. On the ground, the Sudanese army announced strategic gains on all fronts in North Kordofan State. The army stated that it inflicted heavy losses on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in terms of personnel and equipment, and that it had secured control of key locations and redeployed its forces according to pre-established plans. This statement followed remarks by a Sudanese military source to Al Jazeera, who confirmed that the army had destroyed RSF units near the cities of El Obeid and Bara in North Kordofan State. Meanwhile, the Sudan Shield Force, allied with the army, announced that it had fully recaptured the Abu Qud and Jabal Abu Sunun areas in North Kordofan, adding that it was continuing its advance to gain further control of the territory.
