US President Donald Trump announced hat he would begin working to end the war in Sudan
US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he would begin working to end the war in Sudan, responding to a request from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who had urged him to intervene to help stop the conflict. Speaking at the US-Saudi Investment Forum, Trump stated that he had ended eight wars during his presidency and emphasized that the Sudanese crisis was not initially on his agenda. However, the Saudi Crown Prince's request prompted him to give the issue special attention. He added, "The Saudi Crown Prince asked me to take action regarding the situation in Sudan, and just 30 minutes after our conversation, I began working on it," indicating that he would start exploring ways to resolve the conflict. For its part, Washington urged both sides in the Sudanese conflict to reach a ceasefire. The US Special Envoy to Africa, Massad Boulos, described the Sudanese crisis as the world's largest humanitarian crisis currently. Despite this, Trump has rarely addressed the conflict directly in his previous statements, focusing more on issues related to the wars in Gaza and Ukraine as part of his efforts to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
